Aboard the HMS Orange Crush
By Fhey_14

I just argued with a very good friend of mine about the ship. She said that she never really believed in her wildest dreams that Harry and Ginny would be an item. It was clear to her that Ginny worships Harry but Harry doesn't care at all. I advised her to read all books and take some time to see the hints. I could not blame her, I'm a committed H/G shipper so I don't give a big deal to Harry/Hermione hints. It makes sense! You won't go looking for something you don't want to see right? It's the same with the ships I think its a shippers purpose to give the hints, point it out and explain. Not to change anyone's mind but to defend the belief that you fight for. For my case 5 years fighting for it.. Okay, so let the great story begin.

The Sorcerer's Stone was something that you will probably miss. But just hang on to that chapter: When Harry looked at Ginny for a long time, she was half-laughing and crying and trying to catch up with the train where he (Harry) was riding. It's significant, why didn't JK just write something like:
"The twins were waving dumbly at their sister who was trying to catch up with the train.."
End of story! If you didn't get this, then fine. You are forgiven because this kind of hints are not easily spotted.

Onto Chamber Of Secrets. This is like the "real" thing that got me into shipping. Here we see a helpless little girl who is in love with our very powerful hero! Some say that is the very evidence (Ginny is helpless) that can sink HMSOC. But hey! that's the very thing that makes it worth shipping! Admit it or not once in a while we are suckers for love. What better way to be a romantic than to be smitten by the pure adoration of a girl to her hero? We are Ginny in our own little way. Sometimes we have this unreachable someone that we languish in love with. Now, to something concrete.. Of all people? Why did she (Ginny) have to be rescued by Harry? Why can't she act just like Colin or better yet hide under whatever he sees when Harry is there? There is relevance on why Ginny was taken and the thing that lured Harry to the Chamber. It could be Hermione or even Ron himself! But it was Ginny and take note on this one:
"...But then he faltered. He had so far avoided mentioning Riddle's diary--or Ginny. She was standing with her head against Mrs. Weasley's shoulder, tears were still coursing down her cheeks. What if they expelled her? Harry thought in a panic. "
(Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets, Chapter 18)
He should be angry with Ginny or irritated. Why the heck would you keep a dark diary like Tom's? She almost got him killed and almost caused the closing of Hogwarts. He should be dead mad, but he wasn't. I'm not saying it's love.. It's what i call "care" alright.. brotherly care.
I and i guess everyone will admit that The Ship got rocky on Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire, because Harry and Ginny were barely there together. and Harry likes someone. I could just imagine Ginny's heartaches! But of course, we (shippers) don't miss a thing like this one:
""Right," said Ron looking extremely put out, "this is getting stupid. Ginny, you can go with Harry, and I'll just--" "I can't," said Ginny, and she went scarlet too. "I'm going with--with Neville. He asked me when Hermione said no, and I thought...well...I'm not going to be able to go otherwise, I'm not in the fourth year." She looked extremely miserable. "I think I'll go and have dinner," she said"
(Harry Potter And The Goblet of Fire, Chapter 22)
This like, solidified the ship! Why again, on earth did Ginny come in this scene? There are 30 or more chapters for her to come in but why at the time when Harry is down because of love? She was supposed to save him from his heartache but she didn't. I guess, this was the time when Ginny finally accepted that she couldn't go anywhere with Potter if she acted like this. She could never be the last resort. Heck, who wants to be the last resort anyway? According to JK she met corner in the Yule Ball. This is the part where Ginny finally did what was right. Step out and just be herself.

Order Of The Phoenix, the masterpiece if you ask me; It showed the real Ginny. To those who said that she was helpless and so little, powerless, they might have been hit by a stone. JK showed us the thing that we were all looking for. Who is Ginny? The real her? We know all the candidates in Harry's heart; Hermione the straight A, Cho the dream girl ... Ginny who?
She evolved. She became powerful (bat bogey hex). She had friends even from other houses rather than tailing to his brothers. She is absolutely the hottest thing. She stands up to Harry like no one else does:
""Yeah?" growled Harry, his hands deep in his pockets as he watched the snow now falling thickly outside. "All been talking about me, have you? Well, I'm getting used to...." "We wanted to talk to you, Harry," said Ginny "but as you've been hiding ever since we got back-" "I didn't want anyone to talk to me," said Harry, who was feeling more and more nettled. "Well, that was a bit stupid of you," said Ginny angrily, "seeing as you don't know anyone but me who's been possessed by You-Know-Who, and I can tell you how it feels." Harry remained quite still as the impact of these words hit him. Then he wheeled around. "I forgot," he said. "Lucky you," said Ginny coolly. "I'm sorry," Harry said, and he meant it."
(Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix)
This shows, how Ginny tries to reach out to Harry. How she tries hard to relate to him and keep his feet to the ground when no one can seem to control him. Another one:
""It's Easter eggs from Mum," said Ginny. "There's one for you....There you go...." She handed him a handsome chocolate egg decorated with small, iced Snitches and, according to the packaging, containing a bag of Fizzing Wizbees. Harry looked at it for a moment, then, to his horror, felt a hard lump rise in his throat. "Are you okay, Harry?" asked Ginny quietly. "Yeah, I'm fine," said Harry gruffly. The lump in his throat was painful. He did not understand why an Easter egg should have mad him feel like this. "You seem really down lately," Ginny persisted. "You know, I'm sure if you just talked to Cho..." "It's not Cho I want to talk to," said Harry brushely. "Who is it, then?" asked Ginny, watching him closely. "I...." He glanced around to make quite sure that nobody was listening; Madam Pince was several shelves away, stamping out a pile of books for a frantic-looking Hannah Abbott. "I wish I could talk to Sirius," he muttered. "But I know I can't." Ginny continued to watch him thoughtfully. More to give himself something to do than because he really wanted any, Harry unwrapped his Easter egg, broke off a large bit and put it into his mouth. "Well," said Ginny slowly, helping herself to a bit of egg too, "if you really want to talk to Sirius, I expect we could think of a way to do it...." "Come on," said Harry dully. "With Umbridge policing the fires and reading all our mail?" "The thing about growing up with Fred and George," said Ginny thoughtfully, "is that you sort of start thinking that anything's possible if you've got the nerve." Harry looked at her. Perhaps it was the effect of the chocolate-Lupin had always advised eating some after encounters with dementors-or simply because he had finally spoken aloud the wish that had been burning inside him for a week, but he felt a bit more hopeful.."
(Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix)
Again, Ginny showed up when no one else was avilable. Why can't he be just with Cho? He told Ginny what he really wanted to do. He trusted her and she tried to give him hope though it was really impossible! This was the two things that were really relevant, because it was between the two of them only. There are tons of moments out there but I only included the important ones.

The Half-Blood Prince came and all has been said and done. Some cheered and others gritted their teeth. But we could not do anything about it. My friend said that she doesn't like the idea of Bonnie with Dan and vice versa, that's why she hates HMSOC. That is just so pathetic! People like this are nonsense critics! You base it on the books and not the actors, they call themselves lovers of the book and JK but they don't give respect to the very characters that make the "love" story actually work. Who cares if this-actor plays whoever? If they really love Harry Potter as most of them say, why do they care about the actors? I call for respect here. It's not just my friend, there are many people in the Harry Potter community who hate the H/G ship because of this reason. So how does it becomes a great love story? Harry, being someone who didn't feel loved at all in his whole life was loved by Ginny for like forever! He didn't even know it..He was too busy fighting off evil and saving the world. He and harry are caught up with the wrong people. It's Just too coincidental that there "x" ended up together! (Cho and Michael). It's good for a romantic like me, to see Ginny be in love with Harry.. admire him from afar and just hope without any assurance that he will love her back. I almost choked while laughing at Harry go crazy jealous of Ginny's boyfriend. They look funny! Ginny thinks that she is just Ron's little sister to Harry. Harry thinks that Ginny sees him as a brother. It's just fantastic because Harry had the love of his life right under his nose and he didn't see it but when it went away and he desperately wanted it. It's a lesson of love that is learned the hard way.

"Stop when your crying and you hurt yourself.. stop chasing and when your gone and if you really gave your best he will chase you"

This is what happened, they realize each other's worth after each other were gone. It is the reality of life, the thing is that we don't actually get what we want... We have to sacrifice and wait for it, if not now then maybe someday when it is the right time. In their case it took 4 years in the process. I don't know what will happen in book seven but the thing is they love each other and that's what matters. I'm like a proud parent crying like mad knowing that two people who love so purely and innocently finally find each other. Hints cannot change non-HG'ers minds. It's up to them to realize what our ship is really all about. It's not just about Harry and Ginny snogging. It's about the true meaning of Love. The story of two hopeless romantics and the lessons we get from them, because I myself have learned a lot in life and love because of this ship. It's unexplainable, the joy of sailing on the orange crush. And to me shipping doesn't get any better than this.
