Chapter 5 - Weasley's Wizard Wheezes

Harry and Ron edged out of the kitchen, and they, Hermione and Ginny set off along te narrow hallway and up the rickety staircase that zig-zagged through the house to the upper storeys.

"What are Weasley's Wizard Wheezes?" harry asked, as they climbed.

Ron and Ginny both laughed, although Hermione didn't.

"Mum found this stack of order forms when she was cleaning Fred and George's room," said Ron quietly. "Great long price-lists for stuff they've invented. Joke stuff, you know. Fake wands, and trick sweets, loads of stuff. It was brilliant, I never knew they'd been inventing all that..."

"We've been hearing explosions out of their room for ages, but we never thought they were actually making things," said Ginny, "we thought they just liked the noise."

--------------

"Er- why are you calling that owl Pig?" Harry asked Ron.

"Because he's being stupid," said Ginny. "Its proper name is Pigwidgeon."

"Yeah, and that's not a stupid name at all," said Ron sarcastically. "Ginny named him," he explained to Harry. "She reckons it's sweet. And I tried to change it but it was too late, he won't answer to anything else. So now he's Pig. I've got to keep him up here because he annoys Errol and Hermes. He annoys me, too, come to that."

Chapter 6 - The Portkey

There were footsteps down the passageway and Hermione and Ginny came to the kitchen, both looking pale and drowsy.

"Why do we have to be up sp early?" Ginny said, rubbing her eyes and sitting down at the table.

"We've got a bit of a walk," said Mr Weasley.

"Walk?" said Harry. "What, are we walking to the World Cup?"

Chapter 9 - The Dark Mark

They were soon arguing enjoyably about the match; Mr Weasley got drawn into a disagreement about cobbing with Charlie, and it was only when Ginny fell asleep right at the tiny table and spilled hot chocolate all over the floor that Mr Weasley called a halt to the verbal replays, and insisted that everyone went to bed. Hermione and Ginny went into the next tent, and Harry and the rest of the Weasleys changed into pyjamas and clambered into their bunks.

--------------

"C'mon," said Fred, grabbing Ginny's hand and starting to pull her towards the wood. Harry, Ron, Hermione and George followed. They all looked back as they reached the trees.

Chapter 22 - The Unexpected Task

Ron looked up at Harry, a sort of blind horror in his face.

"Why did I do it?" he said wildly. "I don't know what made me do it!"

"What?" said Harry.

"He - er - just asked Fleur Delacour to go to the ball with him," said Ginny. She looked as though she was fighting back a smile, but she kept patting Ron's arm sympathetically.

--------------

"He's going with Cho Chang."

Ron looked up.

"I asked her to go with me just now," Harry said dully, "and she told me."

Ginny had suddenly stopped smiling.

"This is mad," said Ron, "we're the only ones left who haven't got anyone - well, except Neville. Hey - guess who he asked? Hermione!

"What?" said Harry, completely distracted by this startling news.

"Yeah, I know!" said Ron, some of the colour coming back into his face as he started to laugh. "He told me in Potions! Said she's always been really nice, helping him out with work and stuff - but she told him she was already going with someone. Ha! As if! She just didn't want to go with Neville... I mean, who would?"

"Don't!" said Ginny, annoyed. "Don't laugh -"

Just then Hermione climbed in through the portrait hole.

"Why weren't you two at dinner?" she said, coming over to join them.

"Because - oh shut up laughing, you two - because they've both just been turned down by the girls they asked to the ball!" said Ginny.

That shut Harry and Ron up.

"Thanks a bunch, Ginny," said Ron sourly.

--------------

"I've already told you!" Hermione said, very angrily. "I'm going with someone else!"

And she stormed off towards the girls' dormitories again.

"She's lying," said Ron flatly, watching her go.

"She's not," said Ginny quietly.

"Who is it then?" said Ron sharply.

"I'm not telling you, it's her business," said Ginny.

"Right," said Ron looking extremely put out, "this is getting stupid." Ginny, you can go with Harry, and I'll just--"

"I can't," said Ginny, and she went scarlet too.

"I'm going with-- with Neville. He asked me when Hermione said no, and I thought...well...I'm not going to be able to go otherwise, I'm not in the fourth year." She looked extremely miserable.

"I think I'll go and have dinner," she said, and she got up and walked to the portrait hole, her head bowed.

Ron goggled at Harry. "What's got into them?" he demanded.

Chapter 23 - The Yule Ball

Neville and Ginny were dancing nearby - he could see Ginny wincing frequently as Neville trod on her feet - and Dumbledore was waltzing with Madame Maxime.
